Seeing your dentist for teeth whitening is choosing a treatment option that is effective, yet healthy for your mouth. If you consult us for whiter teeth, our dentist will begin by performing an examination to determine your needs, observe the level of discoloration of your teeth, and select the treatment that is best for you. This examination also ensures that it is safe for your oral health to perform the treatment.

It is important to know that tooth whitening products, whether they are used by dental professionals or available over the counter, contain peroxide as a whitening agent. This product, if used improperly, can irritate the tissues of the mouth, exacerbate a problem that is already present (cavities, gingivitis, etc.) and cause severe pain. Therefore, it is important not to neglect the consultation with the dentist before undertaking a treatment of whitening treatment,
whatever it may be.

Finally, the products used by the dentist are more concentrated in whitening agent, which makes professional treatments more effective and offer more pronounced results. Even so, they are still safe for your teeth and mouth because they are used under the supervision of your dental team.

Dental veneers are thin shells, made of porcelain or composite, that are attached over the teeth that need to be improved. Each of these two materials has its advantages (see description below).

We use veneers to correct the color and shape of teeth that are discolored, worn or stained. Veneers are placed on the incisors and canines, the teeth that are most visible in the smile. They can also be used to fill in overly pronounced interdental spaces, giving a more uniform appearance to the smile. In short, you can consider veneers if you have teeth that need to be color corrected, if your teeth are slightly misaligned or too far apart, or if your teeth look worn.

However, it is important to know that veneers can only be placed on teeth that are healthy, even if they are damaged and look bad. The teeth must have enough natural structure to receive the veneers and to continue to perform their functions in the mouth. If the natural structure of your teeth is too affected and they are not strong enough to receive veneers, other treatment options should be considered.

Full prothesis dentures, which are well known as “dentures”, are an excellent way to treat patients who are toothless. We can create a prosthesis that will replace all the missing teeth on the same jaw, using artificial teeth that have a natural appearance. They can be used on the upper jaw and/or the lower jaw. A portion of the prosthesis also mimics the gum so that it fits discreetly in the mouth. The full denture is usually held in place by suction on the gums and palate, on which it is placed. It must be removed for cleaning and at night for better hygiene.

Partial dentures are used for patients with missing or damaged teeth. We use them to replace several teeth on the same jaw. Most of the time, this type of prosthesis is removable, which means that it can be taken out like a full denture, and it is attached to the surrounding natural teeth with metal clasps. Partial dentures are an aesthetic and practical solution that not only improves the appearance of the patient’s smile and face, but also has a beneficial effect on chewing and speaking.

Implantology today represents the preferred solution for patients looking to replace some of their missing teeth. Learn more
